Notes for George Sands

After marriage lived in Long Branch, Westchester County, NY.
In 1770, moved to Poughkeepsie where they purchased a mill from Paul Schenck.
Loyalist in Revolutionary War and several sons were Loyalist officers.
After Revolution moved to Ulster County on the Delaware River.

? ”George C. Sands of Cow Neck, Queens, NY, on November 2, 1793, purchased from Hugh McClelan of the town of Troy, Renselaer County, NY, merchant, 1/2 of land granted by Charles John Evans and Agatha his wife to Anthony Gosper and Francis Maria his wife, then conveyed to Hugh McClelan. Witnesses Benjamin Sands and Daniel Flanagan. Recorded July 5, 1799. Pages 114-115.”

Note: There is confusion over George Sands' parentage; some sources claim he was the son of Edward Sands (brother of John Sands) and Mary Cornell.
