Text: Hendrick Hendricksen (d.1689) added Van Doesburg to his name (the town in Holland he came from) to distinguish himself from others with the same name. He name eventually evolved to Dusenbury/Dusenbery. He emigrated to the colonies and had purchased a farm at Hempstead, Long Island by 1676. He married Marritjen Van Haarlem in 1655 and they were the parents of six children. Their son Hendrick Dusenbury married Mary Thorn and they were the parents of nine children. A descendant, Major Henry Dusenbery married Lydia Swazey, the daughter of Israel Swazey (d.1774). Descendants lived in New Jersey, Ohio, Illinois and elsewhere. Thirteen generations of descendants are given.
