On further consideration it seems likely that the woman is Rudolph's wife, Florence, and from the apparent ages of the children and the number of candles on the cake, this may be Otto's 75th birthday - 1905.

The Rudolph Matz house of Hubbard Woods (Winnetka) located at 1005 Sheridan Road. Florences's sister Bessie (Henderson) (Merrill) Gay lived next door as you can see in several of the census listings. The back lawn of the house went right down to the lake shore and was a prime piece of property.
