“Gladys Thompson Cook Snipes, 99, of 5505 Dairyland Road, Hillsborough, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, at the Britthaven Nursing Home in Chapel Hill after an extended illness.
Gladys was born in Orange County, the daughter of the late Julian P. Thompson and Della Jobe Thompson. She was preceded in death by husbands, N. Tate Cook and W. Manley Snipes. She was a lifelong member of Hebron UMC.
Survivors include her son, Paul Cook (Doris) of Mebane; daughters, Jeanie Sturdivant of Carrboro, and Helen Whitt (Clyde) of Chapel Hill; step-daughter, Mary S. Kirk; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Hebron UMC in Mebane with Minister Bryan Sexton officiating. Burial will be at Hebron UMC church cemetery.
The visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church, and other times at the residence of Paul Cook, 2408 Buckhorn Road, Mebane, N.C. 27302.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hebron UMC, 2325 Mebane Oaks Road, Mebane, N.C. 27302.”
