Introduced to her future husband by Univ. of Michigan professor in Berlin 1936-1937. She returned to US for a while and then worked as an economist at the US Embassy in Berlin. Interned with the Embassy staff Bad Nauheim, near Frankfurt, when Hitler declared war on US. In May 1942 Embassy staffs were exchanged and she went to US Embassy in Lisbon. Left the Embassy to return to Vienna, Virginia and care for mother while working in military intelligence. After many years she joined Heinz in Brazil where they married and lived for two years before returning to Washington, DC. Retired from the Department of Agriculture as chief of special projects branch of the Foreign Agricultural Economic Research Service for which she travelled in Europe and Africa.
