Listed as member of Alpha Delta Phi, Williams College chapter - Class of 1852. In the 1870 catalogue he in living in Chicago and in the 1899 catalogue he is in Hancock, Massachusetts.
Built “family home” at 267 Erie St., Chicago, with brother-in-law Otto Matz prior to Otto’s marriage to his sister. Not clear which family the home was for. Whether Matz and Lewis were owners or designers or both.
Hiram LaMotte Lewis of Chicago, a lawyer, age 28, was married in Hancock, Massachusetts 28 August 1858 to Mary Louisa Gardner of Hancock, age 24, a first marriage for both. Parents were Hiram and Anna M. Lewis and Silas H. and Charlotte Gardner. The pastor of the Congregational Church in New Lebabon, New Hampshire officiated. Mass Vital Records Vol. 117, Page 35. He died in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1900, Mass. Vital Records Vol. 505, Page 367.
