DEATH OF J. W. DOANE.; Railroad Financier and Head of Big Coffee Firm a Victim of Heart Disease:

Doane, head of the tea and coffee Importing house of
J. W.
Doane Co.. at 83 and 87 Front Street, this city; 25 and 27 Wabash Avenue, Chicago; London, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, died in his apartments, in the Holland House, last night, after an illness of several weeks. He had been troubled with heart disease for some time, but it was thought he was Improving. He had a sudden relapse last night, and died soon after. Mr. Doane was sixty-eight years old yesterday. He was born in Thompson, Conn., and had a Summer home there. On the day of the Windsor Hotel fire he moved to the Holland House and had since resided there. He Is survived by his widow, two sons. A_ E. and J. W., Jr., and three daughters. The deceased was President of the Merchant and Trust Company of Chicago, a Director in the Pullman Palace Car Company. Illinois Central Railroad Company, Lake Erie and Western Railroad Company, Union Pacific Railroad Company. New York and New England Railroad Company, and was interested in the reorganization of the Chicago and Alton Railroad Company. The funeral will take place at Thompson, Conn.
