Francis Marbury (1555 – 1611) – Rev. Francis Marbury was son of William and Agnes (Lenton) Marbury, he was born in 1555.  He was educated at Cambridge.  Francis married Elizabeth Moore on August 19, 1583.  They had three daughters.  After the birth of their third child Elizabeth died.  In 1589 Francis married Bridget Dryden.  They had thirteen children.  About 1571 he began his ministry at Northampton.  He soon found that many of the Anglican ministers were not well educated but appointed to their positions by the ruling Bishops for political reasons.  He was arrested and jailed in 1578 because of his open opposition to an uneducated clergy.  About 1600 he moved to London.  After several successful appointments in the Church he died in 1611.  His daughter Anne married William Hutchinson.
