“Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Betty Jean Murray Wicks, age 72, passed away in her sleep at home November 10, 1997.
She was born September 25, 1925 in London, England to Lawrence William Birch and Rachel Maud Stammers Murray. She married F. Tom Batchelor in England, they later divorced. She married Edward Bartlett Wicks on December 30, 1983 in Sandy, Utah.She was raised in London, England during World War II and cared for her family during those difficult times. She immigrated to America in 1980 to be with her children. During the past five years, she enjoyed retirement with her husband in Washington, UT. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Betty is survived by her husband; sons, Gary C. Batchelor of Sandy and Kevin R. Batchelor of Holladay; 12 grandchildren; six brothers and sisters: William, Miriam, Frederick, Lily, Hilda, and Julie, all of England. She was preceded in death by a sister, Alice.
Funeral services will be held at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, Salt Lake City on Friday, November 14, 1997 at 12 noon. Friends may call at the mortuary prior to the services from 10:45-11:45 a.m. Interment, Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 So., Salt Lake City.”
