Notes for Santa / Santina Varnerin
Her name on some of the birth records is Santina Marigold, presumably a corruption of Menegon, although that was her mother’s surname. Maybe the officials did not understand the concept that husband and wife might have had the same surnames before marriage.

Ellis Island - 20 August 1904 - She arrived with three children, Camillo, Umberto and Angela, all US citizens. Traveling from Tramonti to Boston to join her husband Giovanni at 24 Clifton St. in Boston (about three blocks from Norfolk Avenue). Her husband’s sister Lucia Catterina Varnerin traveled with them and married Camillo Furlan two weeks later.

1920 Census - She is a widow living at 96 East Cottage Street, Dorchester. Says her age is 54. With her is daughter Angie Curtin age 21 and grandson Albert age 2. (There is also an Albert Varnerin, age 24, unmarried, in the household, but his relationship is illegible. This appears to be her son who is shown in the 1930 Census as Albert, age 34, with his widowed mother and sister Angela and her son Albert Curtin.)

Resident of 15 Stanley Street, Dorchester when she died in May 1930.

1932 directory shows Albert L. Varnerin and wife Helen living at 15 Stanley Street. He is a draftsman.
