Brought up at home of Aunt Schmeig. Shown there in 1860 and 1870 Census. Sent to Germany to learn violin, but did not play professionally.

Family in Burlington in 1900 Census. Moved to Seattle, Washington. Shown there in 1910 Census where he is listed as a wholesale merchant.
