Arrived in US through Ellis Island on 26 July 1922 at age 28, unmarried, joining her brother, Luigi, at 70 Shawmut Ave., Boston. Says that she was from Varzi, Pavia (south of Milano) and left her mother, Luigia there. Louise Varnerin has a note that she was born in “Casa Comunale.” There is a place called “Casa” near Varzi, but no Casa Comunale. The Colombani surname is most common in the Lombardy region.

27 January 1930, Peter and Maria return to US having sailed from Genoa, her birth place given as Pavia. Werther Arcelli, the Italian boxer who married Julia Caterina Marmai abouty a year later was on the same ship, going to an Amateur Athletic Association event in Boston.

“Peter and Maria Varnerin (Louise ((Feroli))’s Uncle and Aunt) were good friends on Norfolk Avenue. Peter and Maria also had a summer house in Moultonborough.
