Notes for Santa Elizabetta (Santina) Bidoli
First trip to US through Ellis Island on April 29, 1899 at age 27 with her daughter Maria, age 6 months, to join her husband Giovanni Battista Ferroli in Boston at 297 (later 321) Norfolk Avenue. She was traveling with Lorenzo Varnerin, age 44, who had been in US before and what appears to be her sister, Maria Maddelena Bidoli Rugo, age 29, and son Guido. All gave the 297 Norfolk Ave. destination. Also in the group, Luigi Moruzzi, age 28.
May 14, 1911 Santa, with Maria and Emilio come through Ellis Island to join Gio.Batt. at 173 Magnolia St., the home of her sister Maria Bidoli Rugo, (Although the children’s names and ages match, Santa’s age is given as 32, should be 39.) Mentions her mother, Anna Bidoli, in Tramonti. Paolo Marmai, age 22, is with them and says that G. B. Ferroli is his uncle - not sure how that works out.
Dolores Cifrino believed that two of the children were born in Italy, Maria and another when mother was back in Italy. But there are birth records in Boston for the three younger children. She may have been thinking of Annie Emilia who remained in Italy after her mother and two siblings returned to Boston in 1911 and did not return to Boston until 1920.
